SPEAK SATURDAY: Police Violence


On Saturday, April 4, 2015 the hands of a police officer took yet another life. Walter Scott, after being stopped for driving with a broken taillight, was shot eight times in South Carolina. Officer Michael Slager has since then been fired. Furthermore, according to CNN "the FBI is investigating, and once again, a shooting involving police has sparked national outrage."

We would also like to point out this week that womyn and other marginalized groups of people also are subjected to police violence.

"Police violence against women and girls is prevalant. Women of color and queer people of color are not 'allies' to men in this challenge; they are fully engaged and impacted partners. Their fate is also on the line."
