SPEAK Saturday: Poetry Appreciation

Here at SPEAK, we've become quite known for our classroom workshops and panel discussions. But, poetry? Oh, poetry and anything with a spoken word element lights our heart's desire!
Several scholars have alluded to the fact that poems help us get to know one another more as well as build a sense of community. To add, poetry "improves the quality of life both for those who create it and for those who appreciate it," according to PoetryFoundation.org.
Louder Than A Bomb, the largest youth poetry festival in the world hosted by Young Chicago Authors, is a great opportunity for high schoolers to learn and grow alongside their peers.
Although Columbia, Missouri isn't quite Chicago, there's still much to be excited about.
